These works were inspired by the seven nymph daughters of Helios. A heliacal analogy is made through the creative use of gold leaf and the bronze casing of the works. The use of wax gives the artworks noticeable corporeality reminiscent of the poplar-tree trunk, thereby symbolizing the Heliades’ grief-induced transformation. Gestural cuts on the surface signify the nymphs’ trauma; small precision-cuts enlivened with color, allude to their tears.
