Art in the Time of Corona

Digital collage using Procreate on iPad

Did the lockdown affect my practice? Not really to be honest. In fact, I came up with new ideas about an upcoming exhibition. The isolation enhanced my focus and imagination. I was no longer distracted by tedious chores and trivial bustle. Funny that the first thing I thought about when the lockdown happened was J.S. Bach. In 1717, he was imprisoned by the Duke of Weimar Wilhelm Ernst for nearly a month for protesting for better working conditions. And during that time he composed the “Well-Tempered Clavier”. Could that masterpiece have occurred without his imprisonment? I will never find out.
Being an artist is like being blessed. It feels like living in a constant vacation mode. At the end of the day, with or without lockdown, you create whatever comes into your mind.
