My Houston studio space on Spring street.
This is the second lockdown of this year. Yet I am feeling more creative than ever. I believe this applies to all people who are preoccupied with ideas. This human inquisitiveness is wonderfully demonstrated by Hiroshi Teshigahara’s 1964 film The Woman in the Dunes, an adaptation of the novel by the same title by Kobo Abe. I will not reveal the plot. Profoundly relevant during a lockdown, the film wonderfully showcases how an idea–and the energy we invest in its fruition–shapes our existence. The main character’s scientific obsession overpowers his need for personal freedom.
